Kasseler Sonderbord® plus
The Kassel Kerb® plus is a further development of the internationally sought after Kassel Kerb®, which stands for barrier-free bus and tram stops.
From now on, boarding and alighting is fully possible without the use of steps. This increases the safety and comfort for all users, especially for persons with impaired mobility.
A further plus point. The avoidance of damage to the vehicle body when approaching the stops. The new curved profile of the Kerb plus enables controlled gliding of the low-floored buses at the stop kerb without collision.
The Kassel Kerb® plus is registered for a patent.
Bus stop kerb for low-floor systems
Those who use low-floor vehicles must also design bus and tram stops appropriately so that the transport system components fit together in terms of accessibility and comfort. The Kassel Kerb® plus is an innovative element which enables barrier-free public transport.
If a stop is equipped with the Kassel Kerb® plus, the floor of the low-floor vehicle and the stop are on a horizontal level. At these bus and tram stops, the passenger can enter and leave the buses and trams safely and comfortably.
As part of the manufacturers' design, in connection with the low-floor vehicles, the Kassel Kerb® plus from Profilbeton is a crucial link in the mobility chain. Barrier-free public transport is thus ensured.
Close approach of the low-floor vehicle
The new curved profile optimally steers the bus to the stop. The low-floor buses glide up to the entrance edge in a controlled manner.
The particularly smooth approach surface which is adapted to the cross-section of the tyre has the effect of guiding it automatically. In this way, a particularly tight approach of the low-floored vehicle to the stop, and thus closer positioning of the vehicle to the kerb, is possible. The horizontal distance between the vehicle and bus stop is small. In this way, passengers are on the safe side.
The use of bus and train is becoming even easier and more comfortable for all users, in particular for traffic participants who are mobility-impaired, such as wheelchair users, parents with prams, elderly people or people who carry bicycles or bulky shopping bags.
Less tyre wear, no body damage
The curved profile of the kerb guides the vehicle directly to the stop position. Before the flank forces take effect, the tyres stabilise the Kassel Kerb® plus and make it safe to move.
The possibility for exact positioning of the buses has also proven to protect the tyres from damage. The same applies to low-floored buses in terms of the body. The new curved profile enables an even safer approach of the vehicle to the stop, while avoiding damage to the body.
Faster passenger flow
Due to boarding and alighting without the use of steps, the flow of passengers is more comfortable and faster. Shorter stopping periods are possible in this way. Public transport runs more smoothly - that saves time.
